See the SSPX article title immediately below:
Catholic Candle holds that all priests serving traditional Catholics, even the liberalizing “new” SSPX, have supplied jurisdiction (because of necessity) for hearing confessions validly and licitly. Further, it is not important that modernist Rome believes these priests do not have faculties.
However, the SSPX wants its casual readers to believe that its “friend” Pope Francis holds that the SSPX has confession faculties now. If confronted with this headline’s deception, the “new” SSPX would no doubt say that its headline was not deceptive because any reader could read Pope Francis’ own words in the article’s tiny gray print:
those who during the Holy Year of Mercy approach these priests of the Fraternity of St. Pius X to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation shall validly and licitly receive the absolution of their sins.
Id. (quoted in the same size and color as on the SSPX website).
To finish undeceiving himself, the reader would then need to confirm when the so-called “Year of Mercy” begins, by following a link embedded in this article, which leads to another link to an article which gives the date of the beginning of this so-called “Year of Mercy” (December 8, the anniversary of the closing of Vatican II).
Obviously, the honest headline would have been for the SSPX to declare:
Pope Francis: SSPX’s confessions will become valid and licit
But it is no surprise that the SSPX would not find Pope Francis’ real opinion to serve the perception that the SSPX seeks to create in its readers.
