In an interview posted 12-31-14, Fr. Niklaus Pfluger (Bishop Fellay’s First Assistant) bashes the spontaneous Resistance which has arisen worldwide against the SSPX’s new liberalism. For example, he labeled as “fanatics” those who resist the SSPX’s attempt to make common cause with those in the conciliar church. Id. Fr. Pfluger states that the “Resistance does not want to cooperate with them [the indult groups] because they are on the ‘inside’. Division is never the work of Christ.”
Quoted from the interview to an SSPX magazine in Germany, Der Gerade Weg. Bold emphasis added. (English translation)
Fr. Pfluger contradicts Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is “a sign which shall be contradicted”. St. Luke 2:34. Our Lord tells us that He came to divide His followers from those who don’t follow Him:
Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth. I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And as a man's enemies shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
St. Matthew’s Gospel, 10:34-37.
Out of love for our Lord, the Resistance stands against the SSPX’s new liberal direction. It is this liberalism which sets SSPX “brother” priests at variance with each other. Similarly, it was the conciliar church’s liberalism which set Archbishop Lefebvre at variance with conciliar Rome.
