Catholic Candle note: Sedevacantism is wrong and is schism. Catholic Candle is not sedevacantist. On the contrary, we published a series of articles setting out the errors of sedevacantism (and also why it is wrong to believe that former Pope Benedict XVI continues to be pope). Read the articles here: ../faith/against-sedevacantism.html
A reader would be mistaken to believe that the article below gives any support to sedevacantism. The article simply shows that we should resist (and not follow) the evil errors of a pope or any other superior.

Pope Francis teaches many errors. Earlier this year, he added another error: he denied that the Blessed Virgin Mary was holy at her birth. Here are the pope’s words:
Our Lady and Saint Joseph are full of joy: they look at the Child Jesus and they are happy because, after a thousand worries, they have accepted this gift of God, with so much faith and so much love. They are “overflowing” with holiness and therefore with joy. And you will tell me: of course! They are Our Lady and Saint Joseph! Yes, but let us not think it was easy for them: saints are not born, they become thus, and this is true for them too.1
Pope Francis is wrong and insults Our Lady. The Catholic Church teaches the opposite of his scandalous error. Here are the words of St. Alphonsus de Liguori, Doctor of the Church:
Mary was born a Saint, and a great Saint. ... St. Vincent Ferrer, speaking particularly of the sanctity of Mary before her birth, says “that the Blessed Virgin Mary was sanctified’ ... above all Saints and angels’. ... [Because Mary] was appointed mediatrix of the world, as also because she was destined to be the Mother of the Redeemer, received, at the very beginning of her existence, grace exceeding in greatness that of all the Saints together.2
Although Pope Francis’ error is greatest and most offensive regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary, his scandalous error does not pertain only to her. For example, St. John the Baptist also was sanctified before his birth. St. Luke’s Gospel, 1:44. He, also, was born a saint.
